Dial Indicator tips

  • This is probably an easy question.  I have an older dial indicator for my MHM with a bullet shape tip.  I would like to change that to the flat round tip offered by TMR, but I'm unsure how to recalibrate.  Can someone offer some advice?  Thanks

  • Hi Richard - Once you change out for the flat tip you can put the plane onto the bed with the plane weight in place at station "0".   From there just turn the dial that adjusts your cutting head up and down until the dial indicator tip is on the anvil and the dial reads zero.  Hopefully this helps but please feel free to reach out if you have any other questions.

  • To recalibrate after switching to the flat round tip, you'll first need to zero out the dial indicator with the new tip attached. Place the indicator on a known flat surface and adjust it until it reads zero. Then, test it on a known measurement to ensure accuracy.
