One of Tom's favorite sayings was "The blank is perfect and the more you do to it, the more you [expletive] it up!" That's why we love two piece fly rods so much. We wanted to do one better by Tom and build the ultimate dry fly rod. A 7' 6" 4 weight that's a one piece. Yes, one piece. With over two years of development, and built to perfection on the Morgan Handmill, we are confident that this is a rod Tom would be proud of.
This one piece rod is made of flamed bamboo - a long standing tradition that gives the bamboo a deep chocolate color. This is different from the straw coloration that you see on our two piece rods.
We are only offering 20 of these beautiful, one of a kind bamboo fly rods. All will feature a cocobolo reel seat that was hand selected for the best figuring, western-cigar handle shapes, red agate stripping guides, nickel silver downlock hardware, and custom calligraphy emblematic of the classic TMR standard.
Not only was the rod an engineering feat for us, but the rod tube took just as much engineering and refining. We enlisted the talented minds at A.L Swanson Studio's in Helena, Montana to help with this project as well. A joined triangle of cherry wood, an integrated rod sock, mother of pearl inlays, and more make this tube just as beautiful as the rod.
